The Sound Boxes material helps to develop and sharpen the sense of hearing by distinguishing and matching different sounds.  The set consists of twelve wooden cylinders in six matching pairs.  Each cylinder is filled with a different material to produce a distinctive sound when shaken, and each is coloured red or blue on one end and numbered one through six on the other.  The matching numbers from each box produce the same sound when shaken (for example, Blue #2 sounds the same as Red #2).
