Developed in the early 1800s by early childhood education pioneer Friedrich Fröebel, the Fröebel Gifts (“gabe” in German) are a series of simple toys and exercises which focus on geometric forms, colours and creativity. Gift 1 consists of twelve knitted balls in six colours, all contained in a wooden slide-top box measuring 34 cm x 18 cm x 4 cm. Six of the balls have a loop attached and six do not. The balls can be used to explore colour, sorting and movement (rolling, swinging, bouncing, etc). The balls are made of a synthetic blend yarn and are filled with poly-blend batting.
